Omaha & Lincoln Family Photographer
Family Photography Session at Chalco Hills in Gretna, NE
Family Image at Chalco Hills, Gretna/Omaha, Nebraska
As a family photographer serving Omaha, Lincoln, and surrounding Nebraska communities, there is nothing I love more than meeting wonderful families and creating images they'll treasure for years to come. This recent family photography session at Chalco Hills in Gretna, NE was especially meaningful because it marked my return to family photography after spending the past year settling into my new life in Nebraska.
One of the things I love most about living in Nebraska is how easy it is to connect with people. Earlier this spring, I was a vendor at the OMG Vintage Market in Springfield, Nebraska, selling vintage finds and meeting fellow small business owners and shoppers. That's where I met Bre.
Bre and I chatted for a bit and I sent her home with my business card. Later Bre noticed that I was also a photographer. A few days later, she reached out about scheduling family photos in Omaha as a Mother's Day gift for her mom. I immediately loved the idea. Family photographs are one of the most meaningful gifts because they become part of a family's story and can be enjoyed for generations.
Bre later told me how she loved my online proposal system because it is so easy to use and even described it as "so chic." As a photographer and small business owner, hearing that made me incredibly proud.
I've used HoneyBook since 2019 to manage my photography clients, contracts, questionnaires, invoices, and communication. Creating a smooth client experience is important to me because booking family photos should feel exciting and stress-free from start to finish.

Make it stand out
We even captured a few portraits of their sweet Labradoodle, Cooper. As a dog lover (and owner of a Sheepadoodle named Alfie), I was thrilled he joined us for the session. He was incredibly well-behaved and made the perfect addition to their family photos. (Even if he had to be carried up the hill because he does not go for walks, haha!)
Chalco Hills provided a beautiful backdrop for the evening, with the lake, tall grasses, and wildflowers creating a natural Nebraska setting. Since Bre's mom has a farmhouse-style home, they wanted family photos that would complement her decor and feel timeless on the walls of her home. They chose soft blue tones for their outfits and selected locations with plenty of natural texture and greenery to match the look they envisioned.
During our planning process, Bre shared that they had a family photo session in the past but weren't completely happy with how the images turned out. Because of that, I wanted to take extra time to understand their vision, what they loved, and what they felt was missing from their previous experience. My goal was to create photographs they would be excited to print, frame, and enjoy for years to come.
When I delivered the gallery, I was overjoyed to hear that they were "obsessed" with the images and felt that I had captured their vision perfectly. There is no better feeling as a photographer than knowing your clients feel seen, cared for, and genuinely love their photographs.
This session reminded me how much I love family photography and documenting the connections that make every family unique. I hope it's just the beginning of many more family photography sessions throughout Omaha, Lincoln, and the beautiful state of Nebraska.
